Background

CoreWeave Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWV) shares climbed in premarket trading on Wednesday after the company announced it is the first AI cloud provider to deploy Nvidia's new Vera Rubin NVL72 supercomputing cluster. The move reinforces the specialized cloud provider's position at the forefront of high-performance AI infrastructure.

New AI Infrastructure

Shares of the company gained 2.9% in premarket trading following the announcement. CoreWeave stated it has deployed a multi-rack system, making hundreds of Nvidia's next-generation Rubin GPUs available in a single scale-out cluster designed for advanced agentic AI workloads.

According to the company, it is the first cloud provider to validate and bring up the Vera Rubin NVL72 system. A single rack combines 72 Rubin GPUs with 36 Vera CPUs, interconnected with Nvidia's NVLink 6, ConnectX-9 SuperNICs, and BlueField-4 DPUs, all unified by Spectrum-X Ethernet networking.

Alongside the new hardware, CoreWeave introduced two significant capabilities for its AI Object Storage platform. The company launched a cross-region write acceleration feature, which allows data to be written at local latency while being migrated to a second remote region in the background.

A new, lower-cost Archive tier was also introduced, offering storage with no retrieval, early deletion, or reading fees, according to the release. CoreWeave claims its storage system delivers throughput of up to 7 GB/s per GPU and reduces latency by 8x compared to traditional clusters.

Market Significance

This deployment highlights CoreWeave's strategy to maintain a competitive edge by providing customers with immediate access to the latest AI hardware from partners like Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA). By being the first to offer the Vera Rubin architecture, CoreWeave can attract enterprises and AI developers with the most demanding computational needs for training and inference, a factor reflected in the positive investor response.
