CoinMarketCap Adds AI-Powered Analytics to Professional API

Summary
CoinMarketCap has launched a new set of AI-powered endpoints for its Pro API, providing developers with structured data on market narratives, sentiment, and asset-specific analysis.
CoinMarketCap has expanded its professional API service with a new suite of AI-powered endpoints, aiming to provide developers with contextual analysis and narrative insights directly alongside raw market data. The update, announced on Thursday, makes the AI-generated content from its main website available as structured data for the first time.
New Endpoints Add Context to Data
The "CMC AI endpoint family" is designed to add an "explanation layer" on top of standard metrics like price, volume, and market capitalization, according to the company's announcement. This allows developers and institutional clients to integrate AI-driven analysis directly into their applications and platforms.
The new offering includes three distinct endpoints:
- A market feed that provides data on trending narratives, market sentiment, and top news, which is refreshed every 30 minutes.
- A per-cryptocurrency endpoint that answers a fixed set of questions for the top 100 digital assets by market cap, covering topics from recent price movements to roadmap updates.
- A coverage map indicating which assets have AI-generated content currently available.
Technical Details and Market Impact
AdEach API response delivers data in JSON format, pre-split into a short summary and a longer body, alongside the source URLs it draws upon. CoinMarketCap stated that the content is retrieved from its database rather than being generated on request, ensuring that API responses are consistent and repeatable.
For developers and quantitative analysts, this provides a way to programmatically access qualitative market drivers that were previously difficult to structure. "Developers can now pull the number and the reasoning behind it in a single call, with the sources attached," said Rush, CEO of CoinMarketCap, in a statement.
Availability
At launch, the CMC AI endpoints are available exclusively to subscribers of the company's Enterprise plans. CoinMarketCap noted that a subsequent release is scheduled to introduce a monthly AI credit allowance, which would extend access to all other plan tiers, including the free one. This launch builds on an existing API that provides data on spot and derivatives markets, decentralized exchanges, and on-chain activity.
