Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong Believes Bitcoin Has Reached Its Cyclical Bottom

Coinbase Global CEO Brian Armstrong said he believes the price of Bitcoin has already hit its low point for the current market cycle. He anticipates a recovery over the next one to two years, driven by the digital asset's predictable cyclical nature.
Cyclical Bottom and Halving Outlook
Speaking to Bloomberg Television in Singapore on Thursday, Armstrong cited Bitcoin's historical four-year patterns as the basis for his assessment. "I personally think we’ve seen the bottom of the Bitcoin price in this cycle, and it’s going to start to trend up over the coming year or two as we reach the next halving event," he stated.
The halving is a pre-programmed event that reduces the rate at which new bitcoins are created, historically correlating with subsequent price appreciation. Armstrong's comments suggest he sees this upcoming event as a key catalyst for the next bull market phase.
Regulatory Clarity Nears
Armstrong also conveyed significant optimism regarding the U.S. regulatory landscape, which he said "has been getting a lot better." He specifically noted that the Clarity for Digital Tokens Act is "right on the finish line" in the Senate, calling its potential passage "a big milestone for crypto."
He added that even if the legislation does not pass, regulators are prepared to provide guidance. "If it doesn’t pass, the regulators in the U.S., the SEC and the CFTC, have come out and said they’re ready to publish clear rules anyway," Armstrong said, suggesting this could happen within the "next week or two."
AdMarket Context and Future Focus
Armstrong's remarks came as the crypto market faced headwinds. On Thursday, Bitcoin's price edged down to $78,033.6, pressured by elevated Treasury yields and geopolitical tensions that dampened investor appetite for risk assets, according to market data.
Looking ahead, Armstrong identified four key trends he has high conviction in for 2027:
- Stablecoin payments
- Tokenization of equities
- Prediction markets
- Agentic finance
He expressed a desire to bring tokenized equities to the U.S. market "soon."
