Bybit Launches Crypto-Linked Card in Peru to Tap Digital Payments Market

Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has launched its Bybit Card in Peru, a move aimed at connecting the country's digital asset holders with everyday merchant payments. The virtual card allows users to spend from their crypto balances at merchants worldwide, marking the company's latest expansion in Latin America.
Product Details and Launch Promotion
The Bybit Card is a virtual card with no issuance or annual fees that draws funds directly from a user's Bybit account balance. According to the company's announcement, it supports transactions in both Peruvian Soles (PEN) for local use and U.S. Dollars (USD) for international spending. Key features include tiered cashback rewards ranging from 2% to 10% and full rebates on certain digital subscriptions like Netflix and Spotify.
To incentivize adoption, Bybit is offering a welcome package for new Peruvian cardholders totaling up to 120 USDT (Tether).
- A 10 USDT airdrop after an initial account top-up equivalent to at least 100 USDT.
- A 10% cashback booster on qualified spending during the first 30 days, capped at a maximum of 110 USDT.
Strategic Rationale
AdBybit's entry into the Peruvian market is designed to capitalize on the country's growing adoption of digital payments. "Peru’s financial landscape has undergone a quiet but meaningful transformation in recent years as its young, mobile-first population has embraced digital payments," said Patricio Mesri, Bybit's Country Manager for Spanish-speaking Latin America.
The launch is part of a broader strategy to increase the utility of digital assets in emerging markets. Bybit reports that its card is already used by over 3 million people globally, and this expansion into Peru signals a long-term commitment to the Latin American region.
Market Implications
The introduction of crypto-linked payment cards by major exchanges like Bybit represents a key trend in the digital asset industry aimed at bridging the gap between cryptocurrencies and traditional finance. By enabling direct spending at the point of sale, these products seek to increase the practical use cases for holding crypto beyond trading and investment, potentially fostering wider mainstream acceptance.
