BTSE Group Enters Indonesian Market with Regulated Crypto Exchange

Blockchain technology firm BTSE Group has officially launched BTSE Indonesia, a regulated digital and crypto asset exchange, marking its entry into one of Asia's fastest-growing markets. The move was accomplished through a joint venture with local firm PT Aset Kripto Internasional and involved the rebranding of NVX, an existing regulated Indonesian digital asset platform, according to a company announcement on Wednesday.
Strategic Licensing and Operations
BTSE Indonesia has secured a license from the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK), permitting it to operate as a regulated Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Trading Operator (PAKD). This regulatory approval is crucial as it allows the exchange to collaborate with local Indonesian banks and payment gateways.
The license enables BTSE Indonesia to offer key services for the local market, including deposits, withdrawals, and conversions in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), as well as IDR-denominated trading pairs. The company stated this provides users with greater assurance through customer asset protection and compliance with anti-money laundering regulations.
Joint Venture Structure and Market Outlook
Under the joint venture, BTSE Group will provide the core trading infrastructure, technology, and liquidity for the platform. The local entity, BTSE Indonesia, will concentrate on user acquisition, marketing, and developing local partnerships.
Ad"Indonesia has everything it takes to be Asia’s next major crypto hub; the population, the demand, and now the regulatory framework," said Jeff Mei, Chief Operating Officer of BTSE Group. He added that the joint venture combines global infrastructure with local expertise. For context, BTSE Group's global exchange handles over $30 billion in monthly trading volume and supports more than 350 cryptocurrencies.
Local Impact and Future Offerings
The launch aims to provide Indonesian investors with a platform that is both competitive and compliant with local regulations. "We’re excited to bring global standards to our local users and contribute to the growth of the digital economy in Indonesia," said Stephanie Kusnadi, Chief Strategy Officer of BTSE Indonesia.
Initially, the platform will offer trading for over 200 digital assets against the Indonesian Rupiah and USDT. The company also indicated that the regulatory license could allow for an expansion of its product portfolio in the future, including the potential introduction of futures trading, subject to guidelines from Indonesian authorities.
