BTSE Group Enters Indonesian Market with Launch of Regulated Crypto Exchange

BTSE Group, a global digital asset technology firm, has officially entered the Indonesian market with the launch of a regulated cryptocurrency exchange, BTSE Indonesia. The move, executed through a joint venture with local firm PT Aset Kripto Internasional, positions BTSE to compete in one of Asia's most rapidly expanding digital asset economies.
Joint Venture Structure and Launch
The new exchange was established following the successful rebranding of NVX, an existing regulated digital asset platform in Indonesia, according to a company announcement on Wednesday. Under the joint venture, BTSE Group will provide the core trading infrastructure, deep liquidity, and technology for the platform.
Its local partner, BTSE Indonesia, will be responsible for user acquisition, marketing, and strategic partnerships, leveraging its domestic market knowledge to drive growth. The company stated that the global exchange handles over $30 billion in monthly trading volume.
Regulatory Standing and Market Access
Crucially, BTSE Indonesia is licensed by the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK). It operates as a regulated Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Trading Operator (PAKD), a key designation for providing crypto services in the country.
AdThis license allows the exchange to collaborate with local Indonesian banks and payment gateways. It enables essential services for the local market, including:
- Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) deposits and withdrawals
- IDR-denominated trading pairs
- The potential introduction of other services, such as futures trading, in line with local regulations.
Strategic Rationale
Company executives described the move as a strategic combination of global infrastructure and local expertise. "Indonesia has everything it takes to be Asia’s next major crypto hub; the population, the demand, and now the regulatory framework," said Jeff Mei, Chief Operating Officer of BTSE Group.
Stephanie Kusnadi, Chief Strategy Officer of BTSE Indonesia, added that the venture is positioned to deliver a trading platform that is "secure, competitive, and fully compliant with local regulations." The new platform aims to bring global exchange standards to the Indonesian user base and support the country's digital economy.
