Boeing Secures $552 Million Navy Contract for MQ-25A Stingray Drones

The Boeing Company has been awarded a $552,053,000 contract modification from the U.S. Department of Defense for the production and delivery of its MQ-25A Stingray unmanned aircraft for the U.S. Navy. The award advances the development of the Navy's first operational, carrier-based unmanned aerial refueling platform.

Contract Details

Under the terms of the agreement, Boeing will produce three low-rate initial production (LRIP) Lot One aircraft. The contract also provides for the acquisition of long-lead components needed for an additional three Lot Two aircraft, according to the Defense Department's announcement.

This award is a modification to a previously issued firm-fixed-price advance acquisition agreement and was not competitively bid. The work is scheduled for completion in July 2031.

Program Funding and Production

The contract will be funded through aircraft procurement funds from fiscal years 2025 and 2026, with an initial allocation of $100,000,000 and $64,428,480, respectively. The Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting authority.

Production will be geographically dispersed, with the majority of the work taking place at Boeing's facility in St. Louis, Missouri.

Additional work will be performed at various other sites across the U.S. and Canada. Separately, Boeing also secured a smaller $16,184,860 contract for intercontinental ballistic missile door launchers.
