Blue Owl Capital Launches Kirkwood Infrastructure to Meet AI-Driven Data Center Demand

Funds managed by Blue Owl Capital announced the launch of Kirkwood Infrastructure Group, a new company created to develop, own, and operate high-capacity digital networks. The move comes as rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and cloud computing fuel a significant need for robust infrastructure connecting hyperscale data centers, telecom carriers, and subsea cable landing stations across the U.S.
Kirkwood will focus on building and managing conduit and high-count fiber-optic cable systems for a range of clients, including hyperscale customers and data center operators. The company has already integrated the operations of Florida-based South Reach Networks, acquiring nearly 400 miles of fiber network, access to approximately 40 data centers, and connections to key subsea cable stations.
To support new hyperscale data center developments, the company is actively constructing more than 200 miles of conduit and fiber in the Southeast. This new network will connect Shreveport, Louisiana, and Vicksburg, Mississippi, addressing growing connectivity needs in the region.
AdKirkwood Infrastructure will be led by CEO Scott Bergs and a management team with experience developing over 600 miles of network infrastructure in the last five years. Blue Owl stated that Kirkwood plans to expand into additional U.S. markets alongside its data center partners and will operate as an independent entity from its other investments, such as Gigabit Fiber LLC.
