Background

BlossomHill Therapeutics (NASDAQ: BLSM) saw its stock surge in pre-market trading on Tuesday after the company announced positive updated data from a clinical trial for its experimental lung cancer drug, BH-30643. The company presented the findings at the 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer in Seoul, South Korea.

SOLARA Trial Shows High Response Rate

The Phase 1/2 SOLARA trial evaluated BH-30643 in 40 patients with a specific treatment-resistant form of cancer known as EGFR C797S-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). According to the company's presentation, this is a patient population for which no approved oral targeted therapies currently exist.

The updated results demonstrated significant efficacy in this difficult-to-treat setting:

  • An objective response rate (ORR) of 45% was observed.
  • The disease control rate (DCR) reached 88%.
  • At a median follow-up of nearly seven months, 63% of patients remained on the treatment, suggesting a durable response.

The positive clinical readout coincided with other key events, amplifying investor interest. BlossomHill CEO J. Jean Cui presented at the H.C. Wainwright 28th Annual Global Investment Conference in New York on the same day, putting the trial results directly in front of an institutional audience.

This follows a recent initiation of coverage by Guggenheim on September 1, where the firm assigned a Buy rating and a $30 price target to BLSM stock. The drug, BH-30643, also holds an FDA Fast Track designation, which underscores the significant unmet medical need it aims to address.

Market Performance

BlossomHill's pre-market gain of 4.4% stood in contrast to the broader market, with major indices like the S&P 500 and NASDAQ trading slightly lower, according to market data. This indicates the rally was driven by company-specific news rather than a wider market trend.

The stock, which went public in August 2026 at an IPO price of $16.00 per share, has performed well and is now trading near its 52-week high of $23.37.
