Background

Bitget Wallet has integrated the tokenized-asset protocol Reality, providing users of the self-custodial crypto wallet with access to more than 1,700 U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The move, first reported by Investing.com, significantly expands the platform's offering of real-world assets (RWAs) and taps into the growing convergence of traditional finance and blockchain technology.

Integration Expands RWA Access

The integration is initially live on the Arbitrum and Morph blockchains and builds upon Bitget Wallet's existing tokenized equity listings from providers like Ondo and xStocks. With a reported global user base of 100 million, the company stated this partnership gives it one of the most extensive line-ups of tokenized equities available through a self-custodial wallet.

The development allows users to gain exposure to the U.S. equity market directly from their crypto wallets, a feature that is becoming increasingly common among digital asset platforms.

How Reality's Tokenization Works

Reality's protocol issues tokens, known as rTokens, which are designed to track the value of traditional U.S. securities. The structure aims to provide a transparent and secure link to the underlying assets.

  • Each rToken is backed one-to-one by physical shares held at Alpaca Securities, a broker-dealer registered with FINRA and a member of SIPC.
  • A third-party accounting firm provides daily attestations of the reserves.
  • During U.S. market hours, trade orders are routed to liquidity on the Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange.
  • Holders receive dividends directly to their wallets in stablecoins, and corporate actions like stock splits are automatically applied.

These tokens can also be utilized as collateral within other decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, adding a layer of utility beyond simple price exposure.

Market Context and Growth

This partnership highlights a broader industry trend where crypto platforms are increasingly offering exposure to traditional financial instruments. The tokenization of real-world assets is widely seen as a key growth area for DeFi, potentially improving accessibility and efficiency for trading traditional securities.

Bitget Wallet reported that its RWA trading volume grew by 27% in the second quarter compared to the first, with notable activity in Europe, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. The platform has indicated it plans to continue expanding its asset coverage and integrate additional protocols in the future.
