Bank of America Appoints Senior Executives to Lead AI Push in Global Markets

Summary
The financial giant has named new leaders to drive the adoption of artificial intelligence and digital assets within its global markets division, according to an internal memo. The move is part of a broader, multi-billion dollar technology modernization effort.
Bank of America has made several senior appointments to accelerate the adoption and implementation of artificial intelligence across its global markets group. The changes, detailed in an internal memo seen by Reuters on Friday, signal a strategic push to modernize the bank's trading and client-facing technology.
Key Appointments
According to the memo from Ashok Krishnan, head of platforms within the global markets group, the new roles are designed to integrate AI and data analytics more deeply into the division's operations. Key leadership changes include:
- Kevin Milsom was named head of platforms AI transformation.
- Amy Avery and her Analytics, Modelling & Insights (AMI) team will join the global platforms group to oversee data-driven insights across the company.
- Sonali Theisen was appointed head of the global digital assets platform, an expansion of her current duties as head of Global FICC E-trading and markets strategic investments.
Krishnan's platforms group is tasked with modernizing technology and increasing automation, which includes the rollout of generative AI tools.
AdBroader Technology Strategy
The appointments align with Bank of America's publicly stated goal of investing heavily in new technologies to enhance efficiency and revenue. Late last year, the bank's chief technology officer told Reuters that BofA plans to spend billions of dollars on technologies like AI to improve banker productivity.
By creating dedicated leadership for AI transformation and digital assets, the bank is positioning its global markets division to leverage these technologies for a competitive advantage in trading, risk management, and client services.
