Autheo Launches Mainnet for its 'Internet Operating System' to Unify Web, Blockchain, and AI

Technology company Autheo has announced the mainnet launch of its decentralized platform, described as an "Internet Operating system." The launch follows a five-year development period and a public testnet phase that reportedly attracted over 1.8 million wallet addresses and saw the deployment of nearly one million smart contracts.

The project aims to address the fragmentation between existing internet technologies, blockchain protocols, and the growing field of artificial intelligence. Autheo's platform is designed to act as a shared substrate, providing common services for identity, communications, and execution. This approach intends to allow different systems to interoperate natively, rather than relying on application-specific integrations or bridges between siloed networks.

A key feature of the Autheo architecture is its focus on post-quantum security. The system incorporates PQCNet, a framework built on NIST-standardized post-quantum cryptographic algorithms. It also uses W3C-compliant Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) as a native identity primitive for users, services, and AI agents. The platform is built on a Cosmos SDK Layer 0 for interoperability and includes an EVM-compatible Layer 1, allowing developers to deploy or migrate smart contracts written in Solidity.

Founded in 2021 by Todd Mortenson and Scott Bayless, the project has involved a contributor base of approximately 100 people across 25 countries. The platform has undergone independent security audits by Halborn for its testnet and CertiK for its mainnet. With the mainnet now live, Autheo plans to focus on expanding its partnerships and supporting developers building on the network. The native token, THEO, is anticipated to become available on select platforms in early July.
