Several companies posted significant gains, influencing the index's upward trajectory. The session's top performers on the S&P/ASX 200 included:

Conversely, notable decliners limited the market's overall advance. The worst-performing stocks were DroneShield Ltd (ASX:DRO), which fell 12.26%, Stanmore Coal (ASX:SMR), down 11.03%, and Megaport Ltd (ASX:MP1), which lost 5.85%.
Despite the positive close for the benchmark index, market breadth was negative. According to data from the Sydney Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 578 to 464, with 391 issues ending the session unchanged.
AdVolatility, Commodities, and Currencies
Investor sentiment appeared to calm, as the S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of the index's options, declined by 1.67% to 11.16.
In commodities, prices for key exports retreated. Gold Futures for August delivery fell 0.69% to $4,048.80 a troy ounce. Energy markets also saw losses, with September WTI Crude oil futures down 1.40% to $81.45 a barrel and the October Brent contract falling 1.44% to $84.63 a barrel.
In currency markets, the Australian dollar was up 0.27% against the U.S. dollar at 0.70. Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index Futures edged down slightly by 0.04% to 101.35.
