Anthropic IPO Launch Pushed to Mid-October, Sources Say

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic is now targeting mid-October at the earliest to launch the marketing for its initial public offering, a shift from previous expectations, according to people familiar with the matter. The revised timeline pushes back what is anticipated to be one of the largest market debuts ever and a significant test of investor appetite for the AI sector.
Revised IPO Schedule
The company's IPO prospectus, which some sources had expected to be made public as early as next week, is now anticipated in late September. This would set the stage for the investor roadshow to begin in mid-October, with a goal of completing the listing days before the U.S. midterm elections in November, the people said.
Sources cautioned that the plans, including the specific timing, remain subject to change based on market conditions and regulatory reviews. Such adjustments are not unusual in the complex process of preparing for a public listing.
Financial Preparations and Market Impact
As part of its pre-IPO preparations, Anthropic is reportedly working to finalize a $15 billion revolving credit facility. Once this financing is secured, analysts from the underwriting banks are expected to meet with the company, a key step before the prospectus is filed.
AdThe offering is one of the most closely watched in recent memory, with some investors suggesting it could command a valuation approaching $2 trillion. The IPO's reception will serve as a crucial bellwether for public market sentiment toward high-growth AI firms and could influence the listing plans of other technology companies.
Underwriters and Official Comment
The IPO is being managed by a consortium of major investment banks, including Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Citi, according to people familiar with the matter.
Anthropic declined to comment on its IPO plans. Representatives for Goldman Sachs, Citi, and JPMorgan also declined to comment, while Morgan Stanley did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
