Aehr Test Systems Stock Jumps Over 14% on Follow-On Order for AI Chip-Testing Equipment

Shares of Aehr Test Systems (NASDAQ: AEHR) surged more than 14% in morning trading after the company announced it received a significant follow-on production order from a key customer for its advanced semiconductor testing equipment.
Order Validates AI-Focused Technology
Aehr Test Systems reported that its lead customer in the silicon photonics sector placed an order for a fully automated FOX-XP wafer-level burn-in and testing system. The order is a crucial vote of confidence, as this customer had already taken delivery of its first FOX-XP system during fiscal 2026, which has been successfully installed and qualified for production.
The system is configured to test up to nine 300mm wafers at once and includes the FOX WaferPak AutoAligner for completely hands-free operation. According to the company, the equipment will be used to support high-volume manufacturing of silicon photonics devices, which are essential components for AI optical interconnects and hyperscale data center infrastructure.
"The successful installation and production qualification of our first fully-automated system with this customer represents another important milestone in our long-term relationship with them," said CEO Gayn Erickson in a statement. He added that the company was "very pleased to receive this additional follow-on production order early in our new fiscal year."
AdMarket Impact and Context
The news, coming just days before Aehr is scheduled to release its fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter and full-year earnings on July 14, sparked significant investor interest. The follow-on nature of the order suggests the customer is successfully ramping up production, validating Aehr's technology for a high-growth market.
Aehr's stock move was company-specific and stood in contrast to a relatively quiet broader market, with the NASDAQ Composite up just 0.4%. Other semiconductor equipment companies, such as Teradyne and FormFactor, did not report similar catalysts, underscoring that the rally was driven solely by Aehr's announcement. For investors, the order strengthens the thesis that Aehr is well-positioned to benefit from the ongoing buildout of AI infrastructure.
