Advent International Secures $30 Billion for New Buyout and Mid-Market Funds

Private equity giant Advent International announced Tuesday it has raised a total of $30 billion for its latest fund complex. The successful capital raise, which includes a flagship buyout fund and a new mid-market strategy, stands out amid a broader slowdown in the private equity fundraising market.
Fundraising Details
The bulk of the capital, $27 billion, was secured for Advent's 11th global private equity fund, GPE XI, according to the firm. This makes it the largest buyout fund to close so far in 2026. The remaining $3 billion in commitments was raised for a new mid-market investment vehicle that the firm launched in March.
Advent stated that it received commitments from a diverse group of new and existing investors. This institutional investor base includes public and private pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals.
Investment Strategy
The flagship GPE XI fund will continue Advent's strategy of investing across a variety of sectors and deal sizes. Its primary geographic focus will be on Europe and North America, with a continued effort to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific and Latin American markets.
AdThe new mid-market fund will leverage the same deal teams to target smaller transactions. It will focus on making equity investments between $100 million and $350 million in companies across North America and Europe with enterprise values of up to $1.25 billion.
Market Context
Advent's fundraising success comes at a difficult time for the private equity industry. A prolonged slowdown in deal exits, such as sales and initial public offerings, has made it harder for firms to sell their portfolio companies and return capital to their investors.
This has had a chilling effect on the market, as limited partners have less available capital to commit to new funds. Advent's ability to raise a significant sum in this environment signals strong investor confidence in its track record and strategy.
