Background

Vantage Markets, a multi-asset broker, has launched a new Contract for Difference (CFD) product that allows for 24/7 trading of gold against the U.S. dollar. The new offering, XAUUSD247, enables eligible clients to trade the precious metal over weekends, a significant extension beyond traditional market hours.

Product Details and Availability

In a statement from Port Vila, Vanuatu, on July 4, 2026, Vantage announced that the new over-the-counter (OTC) product is available to eligible clients on the MT5, TradingView, and Vantage App platforms. The official product page is set to launch on July 6.

Key features of the XAUUSD247 product include:

  • Contract Size: A smaller one-ounce contract, compared to the 100-ounce size of the firm's standard XAUUSD offering.
  • Leverage: Tiered leverage of up to 100x may be available, subject to position size and account type.
  • Costs: While there is no separate trading commission, Vantage notes that spreads, financing charges, and other costs may apply.

Market Context and Risk Controls

The move aligns with a broader industry trend toward extended market access. CME Group recently announced its own plans to expand trading hours for certain gold futures products to 24/7, subject to regulatory review. Vantage specified that its XAUUSD247 is a separate OTC CFD product.

"XAUUSD247 provides eligible clients with access to gold CFDs beyond standard market hours, supported by transparent product mechanics and clearly defined trading controls," said Marc Despallieres, Chief Executive Officer at Vantage. The product incorporates risk-management features, including account-level exposure limits that trigger a "close-only" mode if thresholds are exceeded.

Implications for Traders

The introduction of weekend gold CFD trading offers traders an opportunity to react to geopolitical or economic news that occurs when traditional exchanges are closed. The smaller contract size may also make gold price speculation more accessible to a wider range of retail traders.

However, Vantage cautions that product availability and trading conditions are subject to jurisdictional restrictions and can vary by client. Investors should note that CFDs are complex, leveraged instruments that carry a high risk of losing money rapidly.
