Vantage Launches 24/7 Gold CFD Trading for Weekend Market Access

Summary
Multi-asset broker Vantage Markets has introduced a new product, XAUUSD247, allowing eligible clients to trade gold contracts for difference (CFDs) continuously, including on weekends.
Vantage Markets, a multi-asset broker, has launched a new product enabling clients to trade contracts for difference (CFDs) on gold 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new offering, named XAUUSD247, allows for continuous trading even during weekends when traditional commodity markets are closed.
Product Specifications
According to a company announcement on July 4, the product provides access to the gold market for eligible clients through the MT5 and TradingView platforms, as well as the Vantage mobile app. The official launch is scheduled for July 6.
Key features of the XAUUSD247 CFD include:
- Contract Size: A smaller one-ounce contract, compared to the 100-ounce size of the firm's standard XAUUSD product.
- Leverage: Tiered leverage is available up to 100x, subject to position size, account type, and other conditions.
- Cost Structure: The product does not carry a separate trading commission, though spreads and financing charges apply.
Market Context and Risk Management
The introduction of this over-the-counter (OTC) product follows a recent announcement from CME Group regarding its plans to expand trading of certain listed gold futures to a 24/7 schedule, subject to regulatory review. Vantage's offering is a separate CFD product designed for its own client base.
Ad"XAUUSD247 provides eligible clients with access to gold CFDs beyond standard market hours, supported by transparent product mechanics and clearly defined trading controls," said Marc Despallieres, Chief Executive Officer at Vantage, in the statement.
To manage the risks associated with continuous, leveraged trading, the product includes built-in exposure limits at the account level. Vantage stated that when an account reaches its applicable exposure threshold, it will enter a "close-only" mode until the position size is reduced.
Implications for Traders
The availability of weekend trading for gold CFDs offers traders increased flexibility to manage positions or react to geopolitical and economic news that may occur outside of the standard trading week. However, trading during periods of traditionally lower market liquidity, such as weekends, can involve heightened risks, including the potential for wider bid-ask spreads and increased price volatility.
Vantage's announcement included a risk warning emphasizing that CFDs are complex, leveraged instruments that carry a high risk of rapid financial loss and may not be suitable for all investors.
