U.S. Stock Futures Rise as Investors Await Key Tech Earnings

U.S. stock index futures climbed on Monday morning as investors looked ahead to a crucial week of corporate earnings that will test the strength of the market's artificial intelligence-driven rally. The gains represent a potential rebound from last week's sharp, technology-led sell-off, though escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East kept sentiment in check.
Earnings to Test AI Rally
The second-quarter earnings season intensifies this week, with highly anticipated reports due from megacap companies including Alphabet (GOOGL), Tesla (TSLA), Intel (INTC), and IBM (IBM). These results will be closely scrutinized for signs that the massive capital spending on AI infrastructure is translating into sustainable growth.
Investor optimism around AI has been a primary catalyst for market gains this year, but confidence wavered last week. A steep reversal in semiconductor shares pushed the Philadelphia SE Semiconductor Index into a bear market, ending Friday more than 20% below its late-June record high.
"If earnings reports in the coming weeks suggest that we remain in the spend phase of the AI buildout, investors are likely to get more impatient, and the sell-off could drag on over the summer months," said Kathleen Brooks, research director at XTB, in a note cited by Reuters.

Ad- Dow E-minis were up 133 points, or 0.25%.
- S&P 500 E-minis gained 29.25 points, or 0.39%.
- Nasdaq 100 E-minis rose 228.5 points, or 0.79%.
Several technology stocks advanced in premarket trading, with memory chipmakers like Western Digital, Seagate Technology, and Micron Technology gaining between 3.2% and 4.2%. Among other movers, Domino’s Pizza shares jumped 6.5% after the company's quarterly revenue surpassed analyst estimates.
Geopolitical and Fed Headwinds
Investors remained cautious amid rising tensions in the Middle East, where U.S. forces have engaged in repeated strikes against Iran. The conflict has pushed Brent crude oil above $90 a barrel for the first time since early June, renewing concerns about a potential resurgence in inflation.
Meanwhile, traders continue to monitor the Federal Reserve's policy path. According to the CME FedWatch tool, markets are pricing in a roughly 53% chance of an interest rate hike in September, following benign inflation data that has lowered expectations for a move at the Fed's July meeting.
