Turkish Stocks Close Lower as Transport and Retail Sectors Weigh on BIST 100

Turkish equities closed in negative territory on Thursday, with the benchmark BIST 100 index declining by 0.43%. The slide was primarily driven by weakness across the telecommunications, wholesale & retail trade, and transport sectors, according to market data from the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
Sector-Specific Weakness
The negative sentiment was widespread across the Istanbul Stock Exchange, as falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by a margin of 337 to 261, while 34 stocks finished the session unchanged. Key sectors dragging the index lower included transport, which saw significant declines in major names like TAV Havalimanlari Holding.
