Tesla Stock Jumps Over 3% on Reports of Optimus Robot Supply Chain Progress

Summary
Shares in the electric vehicle maker gained following reports that it is advancing supply chain audits in China for its Optimus humanoid robot, a key step toward mass production.
Tesla (TSLA) shares climbed more than 3% in Monday trading, buoyed by reports that the company is accelerating preparations for the mass production of its Optimus humanoid robot.
Optimus Supply Chain Advances
According to news reports, Tesla is conducting a new round of supply chain audits in China's Yangtze River Delta region, a major manufacturing hub. Several of the company's existing automotive parts suppliers have reportedly received orders for core components for the Optimus project.
These components are said to include crucial mechatronic parts such as:
- Joint modules
- Actuators
- Precision structural components
AdBloomberg Intelligence analyst Ian Ma noted that the supplier audits are a positive signal for the commercialization of Optimus, indicating that Tesla is preparing for repeatable, large-scale manufacturing.
Strategic Focus and New Roadster
The move reinforces Tesla's growing focus on robotics. The company previously halted production of its Model S and Model X vehicles to free up production capacity for the Optimus program. The stock has gained approximately 20% since the beginning of August.
Separately, Tesla announced in a social media post that its next-generation Roadster sports car will be unveiled on October 1. Analysts at Morningstar have described the Roadster as a "halo vehicle," intended to showcase the company's top engineering capabilities and take over the brand-defining role previously held by the high-end Model S and X.
