Taiwan Weighted Index Climbs 1.13% to Three-Month High

Summary
Taiwan's main stock index advanced 1.13% on Monday to close at its highest level in three months, buoyed by strong performance in the electronics, glass, and energy sectors.
Taiwan's stock market closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Taiwan Weighted index gaining 1.13% to reach a new three-month high, according to data from Investing.com.
Sector Strength Drives Gains
The advance was primarily led by positive performance in several key industries. Gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Glass, and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors were the main drivers behind the index's upward momentum.
Among the session's top individual performers were:
- TSEC Corp (TW:6443), which surged 10.00% to close at 28.05.
- Sunko Ink Co Ltd (TW:1721), also adding 10.00% to end the day at 24.20.
- HORNG SHIUE HOLDING Co Ltd (TW:2243), which rose 9.98% to 54.00.
Market Breadth and Laggards
AdDespite the strong performance of the main index, the broader market was more mixed. Declining stocks slightly outnumbered advancers on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by a margin of 509 to 504, with 110 issues ending the session unchanged. This suggests the day's gains were not evenly distributed across the market.
The most significant decliners of the session included WinWay Technology Co Ltd (TW:6515), which fell 9.95%, and HonPrecision Inc (TW:7769), which dropped 8.26%.
Commodities and Currency Context
In the wider financial markets, commodity prices were under pressure. Crude oil futures for November delivery fell, and the December Gold Futures contract also traded lower. In currency markets, the U.S. dollar saw modest gains, with the USD/TWD pair inching up 0.04% to 31.80, as reported by Investing.com.
