AdFocus on Liquid Cooling and Scalability
The NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform was specifically designed to leverage direct liquid cooling to achieve power and thermal efficiency levels that are not possible with traditional air cooling. Supermicro highlighted its in-house manufacturing of liquid cooling components, including cold plates, manifolds, and cooling distribution units (CDUs).
According to the announcement, the company's in-row CDUs are rated at 1.8MW per unit and are deployed with N+1 redundancy for reliability. Supermicro's DCBBS blueprint outlines a bill of materials for deployments ranging from 5 MW to gigawatt scale, with a single Scalable Unit containing 1,152 GPUs. The company also provides comprehensive integration and deployment services, validating each full liquid-cooled rack before it is shipped.
