StrongPoint Q2 Revenue Dips 2% on Exit of ESL Partner

StrongPoint, a Norwegian grocery retail technology provider, reported a 2% year-over-year decline in second-quarter revenue to NOK 342 million, according to its latest financial release. The company attributed the sales decrease to the loss of contributions from a former partner in the Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) segment.
Q2 Financial Performance
StrongPoint's profitability was impacted during the quarter, with the company posting an operating loss of NOK 6 million and a net loss of NOK 8 million. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) came in at NOK 5 million, a figure that included NOK 4 million in one-time costs.
Despite the pressure on earnings, the company generated an adjusted free cash flow of NOK 49 million for the period. CEO Jacob Tveraabak noted that the decline in EBITDA was cushioned by an improved cost base.
Regional Divergence and Partner Impact
The end of the ESL partnership had a significant effect on the company's home turf. Revenue in the Nordic markets fell by 22% year-over-year as contributions from the former partner ceased. This decline was partially offset by a 15% growth in international markets.
AdThe company also stated that its recurring revenue stream decreased due to the partnership's conclusion. StrongPoint is now working with a new partner, Vusion, but cautioned that building a new recurring revenue stream will require time.
Outlook and Strategy
Looking ahead, StrongPoint announced plans to continue with internal efficiency measures and right-sizing its cost base. The company also expressed optimism about its prospects in the United States, stating it expects profitable growth in the U.S. market following a recent breakthrough.
The focus remains on managing costs while navigating the transition to its new ESL partnership and pursuing international expansion opportunities.
