Background

Streamex Corp. (NASDAQ: STEX) has made its tokenized, yield-bearing gold security available for purchase in traditional brokerage accounts, a move aimed at bridging the gap between digital assets and mainstream finance. The development, announced on June 29, allows accredited investors to gain exposure to the digital commodity through a partnership with broker-dealer Siebert Financial.

Bridging TradFi and Digital Assets

The collaboration brings together Streamex as the issuer of the security, named $GLDY, with Siebert Financial (NASDAQ: SIEB) handling distribution and the regulated digital-securities platform tZERO providing custody. According to the announcement, the arrangement allows Siebert's brokers, who oversee approximately $20 billion in client assets, to offer the product to eligible clients without requiring them to set up crypto wallets or have prior blockchain experience.

This integration into conventional brokerage services represents a significant step in making tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) more accessible to traditional investors. The move bypasses common barriers to entry associated with digital asset markets.

Product Details and Market Context

The $GLDY security is backed by physical gold and offers a variable yield of up to approximately 3.5% annually. Streamex stated that the yield is generated by lending the underlying gold to commercial users, such as jewelers and refiners, and is paid out monthly to holders in the form of additional gold. This structure is designed to increase an investor's total gold holdings over time, in contrast to traditional gold investments that may incur storage fees.

"Putting $GLDY into a brokerage account is a major step toward that, because it meets traditional investors exactly where they already are," said Henry McPhie, Co-Founder and CEO of Streamex. This new distribution channel complements the security's existing availability on the Solana blockchain, where it began secondary trading on the decentralized exchange Orca in May.

Strategic Roadmap and Investor Access

Currently, the $GLDY security is offered under Rule 506(c) of Regulation D and is restricted to verified accredited investors. The company noted that this is the latest in a series of steps to broaden access to the asset.

Streamex has also outlined plans to launch a retail version of its digital gold product in the future, which would be accessible to a wider audience through various decentralized exchanges. This strategy aims to cater to both conventional wealth-management clients and crypto-native traders, positioning the company to capitalize on growing interest in tokenized commodities.
