Streamex Partners With Siebert to Offer Tokenized Gold Security in Brokerage Accounts

Streamex Corp. (NASDAQ: STEX) has made its tokenized, gold-backed security available through traditional brokerage accounts, a move aimed at bridging the gap between digital assets and mainstream finance. According to a company announcement on June 29, the collaboration allows accredited investors to purchase the $GLDY security through FINRA-member broker Siebert Financial.
A Three-Way Collaboration
The new offering integrates three firms from different financial sectors to streamline access for investors. The structure is as follows:
- Streamex Corp. issues the $GLDY security, which is backed by physical gold.
- Siebert Financial, which oversees approximately $20 billion in client assets, will handle distribution to its clients.
- tZERO, a regulated digital securities platform, will provide custody for the asset.
This partnership enables Siebert's brokers to offer the digital security to eligible clients without requiring them to set up cryptocurrency wallets or have specialized blockchain knowledge. The product is designed to offer exposure to the gold market with features common to digital assets, such as the potential for 24/7 trading and digital self-custody.
Product Features and Market Strategy
AdThe $GLDY security offers a variable yield of up to 3.5% annually, paid monthly in additional gold. Streamex stated this yield is generated by lending the underlying physical gold to commercial users like jewelers and refiners. This feature contrasts with traditional gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) or physical bullion, which typically involve storage fees rather than generating a return.
"Putting $GLDY into a brokerage account is a major step... because it meets traditional investors exactly where they already are," said Henry McPhie, Co-Founder and CEO of Streamex, in the announcement. The move follows the product's initial launch in February and its listing for secondary trading on the Solana-based decentralized exchange Orca in May.
Context and Future Roadmap
This initiative comes amid growing interest in tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), particularly on high-speed blockchains like Solana. Streamex's strategy appears to target both crypto-native users and traditional investors simultaneously.
While the brokerage offering is currently limited to verified accredited investors, Streamex said its next step is to develop a retail-focused version of the digital gold product. The company stated this future offering would be accessible to a broader audience and is expected to trade on several decentralized exchanges, though it noted these plans are forward-looking and subject to change.
