Background

Streamex Corp. (NASDAQ: STEX) has made its tokenized, yield-bearing gold security available in traditional brokerage accounts, aiming to simplify access for conventional investors. The company announced on June 29 that its `$GLDY` security can now be purchased through FINRA-member broker Siebert Financial.

Partnership Bridges Digital and Traditional Finance

The collaboration involves three firms to facilitate the offering. Streamex issues the gold-backed security, Siebert Financial, which oversees approximately $20 billion in client assets, manages distribution, and the regulated digital-securities platform tZERO provides custody.

This structure allows Siebert's brokers to offer `$GLDY` to accredited investor clients alongside conventional stocks and bonds. According to the company's announcement, this eliminates the need for clients to set up crypto wallets or have specialized blockchain knowledge to gain exposure to the digital asset.

A Yield-Bearing Gold Instrument

The `$GLDY` security is designed to provide returns beyond simple price appreciation of the underlying gold. Key features highlighted by Streamex include:

  • A yield of up to 3.5% annually, distributed monthly.
  • Yield payments made in additional gold, allowing for the compounding of an investor's holdings.
  • The yield is generated by lending the physical gold backing the security to commercial users like jewelers and refiners.

"Putting `$GLDY` into a brokerage account is a major step... because it meets traditional investors exactly where they already are," said Henry McPhie, Co-Founder and CEO of Streamex, in a statement.

Context and Future Plans

This development is the latest step in Streamex's strategy to broaden the accessibility of tokenized commodities. The company previously launched secondary trading for `$GLDY` in May on Orca, a decentralized exchange on the Solana blockchain.

Streamex stated its next goal is to launch a retail-focused version of its digital gold product, which would be available to non-accredited investors. The company said it is building a tokenization platform for real-world assets (RWAs) to support this expansion. Currently, `$GLDY` remains a regulated security available only to verified accredited investors under Rule 506(c) of Regulation D.
