MADRID – Spanish stocks finished significantly lower at the close of trading on Wednesday, with the benchmark IBEX 35 index registering a loss of 3.01%. The decline was driven by widespread weakness, particularly in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Goods, and Consumer Services sectors.

Among the day's worst performers on the index were Amadeus IT (BME:AMA), which saw its shares fall by 5.44%. Financial services company Banco Santander (BME:SAN) declined 5.06%, and stainless steel manufacturer Acerinox (BME:ACX) ended the session down 4.99%.

Bucking the downward trend, a small number of companies posted gains. Energy firm Repsol (BME:REP) was the top performer, rising 4.54%. Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY) and Endesa SA (BME:ELE) also finished in positive territory, adding 1.24% and 0.26%, respectively.
