Sogefi Shares Plunge Over 10% on Weak Revenue Forecast and Q2 Profit Drop

Background

Shares of Sogefi (SGFI) plunged after the automotive components supplier reported its first-half 2026 financial results and issued a downbeat revenue forecast for the full year, citing deteriorating market visibility.

Disappointing Results and Outlook

For the first half of 2026, Sogefi reported revenues of €492.5 million, a 0.5% decrease in reported terms but flat at constant exchange rates compared to the prior year. While net profit for the six-month period held steady at €18.7 million, the results for the second quarter in isolation raised investor concerns.

Net profit for the second quarter fell by approximately 20% to €7.7 million, a drop the company attributed to non-recurring charges and adverse tax items. Compounding the weak quarterly result, Sogefi guided for a low single-digit percentage decline in revenues for the full year 2026 compared to 2025. The company expects its adjusted EBIT margin to remain broadly in line with 2025 levels.

Management Cites Limited Visibility

In its forward-looking statement, Sogefi's management pointed to "severely limited visibility on the automotive market" for the remainder of the year. The company identified geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East, as a primary source of uncertainty with the potential to disrupt inflation, international trade, supply chains, and end-market demand.

Market Reaction

Investors reacted sharply to the combination of a weak quarterly profit and a cautious outlook. Sogefi shares fell 10.6% to trade at €1.908 on July 28. The decline was company-specific, standing in contrast to Italy's FTSE MIB index, which traded in positive territory on the day. The performance also comes as peers in the European auto components sector navigate a challenging environment marked by weak demand in China and currency headwinds.
