Sinch Stock Falls as Q2 Profitability Misses Investor Expectations

Shares of Sinch (SINCH) fell nearly 5.9% in Stockholm trading after the cloud communications company released second-quarter 2026 results that revealed a drop in profitability, failing to meet investor expectations for an earnings recovery.
Profitability Metrics Disappoint
According to the company's interim report, Sinch posted a 6% organic increase in net sales to SEK 6,866 million. However, this top-line growth was overshadowed by weakening profitability metrics.
Key figures from the report include:
- Gross profit declined in absolute terms to SEK 2,300 million, down from SEK 2,322 million in the same period a year earlier.
- Adjusted EBITDA also contracted to SEK 858 million from SEK 869 million year-over-year.
AdThe combination of rising sales but falling profit and EBITDA pointed to significant margin pressure, disappointing investors who had anticipated a positive inflection point for the company's earnings.
Compounding Factors Weighed on Shares
Several other factors contributed to the negative market reaction. Unfavorable currency exchange rates acted as a headwind, reducing reported revenue growth by 2 percentage points and gross profit growth by 3 percentage points. This highlighted the company's vulnerability to foreign exchange volatility.
Investor sentiment was also clouded by ongoing leadership uncertainty. The report confirmed that acting CEO Jonas Dahlberg continues to serve as the company's CFO following the departure of former CEO Laurinda Pang, a dual role that raises questions for some investors about near-term strategic execution. The sell-off followed recent price target increases from analysts at DNB Carnegie and Danske Bank, which had set a high bar for the earnings release.
