ServiceTitan Stock Tumbles 29% as Weak Guidance Overshadows Q2 Earnings Beat

ServiceTitan (TTAN) shares plummeted nearly 29% on Wednesday after the company's weak third-quarter outlook overshadowed second-quarter results that beat analyst expectations. The sharp sell-off reflects investor concern over a potential growth slowdown, despite the company raising its full-year revenue and margin guidance.
A Mixed Report
ServiceTitan reported strong financial performance for its second fiscal quarter of 2027. The company posted revenue of $292.8 million, a 21% increase year-over-year and ahead of the consensus estimate of $285.9 million. Profitability also improved, with operating income reaching $44.4 million for a 15.2% margin and free cash flow rising to $50.5 million.
However, the company's guidance for the third quarter spooked the market. ServiceTitan projected Q3 revenue between $285 million and $287 million, which represents a sequential decline from its Q2 results. This forecast was the primary catalyst for the stock's decline to $57.92, according to market data from September 9.
Key Investor Concerns
Investors are now weighing several key issues that cloud the company's near-term prospects, even as management focuses on a long-term strategy centered on its AI product, Max.
Ad- Slowing Growth: Gross Transaction Volume (GTV) grew by only 17%, and the company cited softer job growth in the HVAC sector during May and June as a headwind.
- AI Monetization: The push for the Max AI platform is creating a near-term revenue drag of $4 million to $5 million due to absorbed implementation fees and different revenue recognition. While adoption has doubled to over 200 locations, the market remains uncertain about when this investment will translate into stronger revenue.
- Leadership Transition: The company announced that CRO Ross Biestman is transitioning out of his operating role, raising questions about sales execution and new customer growth during the handover.
Market Impact and Context
The market's severe reaction indicates that investors are prioritizing immediate, sequential growth over the company's long-term vision. While ServiceTitan raised its full-year 2027 revenue guidance to a range of $1.139 billion to $1.144 billion, the weak Q3 forecast has become the dominant narrative.
Following the report, some analysts adjusted their outlooks. Baird, for example, reduced its price target to $85, while Needham maintained its $100 target. The moves suggest that while Wall Street may still see long-term value, near-term uncertainty has significantly impacted sentiment.
