The negative sentiment was primarily driven by weakness in the Industrial Investment, Insurance, and Financial Services sectors.
Among the day's most significant decliners were:
- Saudi Fisheries Co. (TADAWUL:6050), which plunged 7.86%.
- Rasan Information Technology (TADAWUL:8313), which fell 5.35%.
- Arabian Company for Agricultural and Industrial Investment (TADAWUL:2287), down 5.20%.
AdDespite the negative market trend, a few companies posted notable gains. Al Kathiri Holding Co. (TADAWUL:3008) rose 6.48%, and Salama Cooperative Insurance Co. (TADAWUL:8050) added 6.34%.
Commodity and Currency Context
The equity market's decline occurred even as energy prices, a crucial driver for the Saudi economy, moved higher. Crude oil futures for November delivery rose 2.38% to $94.61 a barrel, while Brent oil for December delivery gained 2.01% to hit $99.40 a barrel.
In other commodities, the December Gold Futures contract experienced a sharp decline of 3.31%. In currency markets, the USD/SAR pair remained stable at its 3.75 peg, while the US Dollar Index Futures, which measures the dollar against a basket of other major currencies, was up 0.20%.
