SanDisk Stock Enters Overbought Territory After Sharp Rally, Technicals Signal Caution

SanDisk's stock price has surged to a new high following a sharp recovery, but technical indicators are now flashing overbought signals, suggesting the rally may be overextended and at risk of a near-term pullback.
Bullish Momentum Meets Technical Headwinds
According to technical analysis from Investing.com based on 5-hour chart data, SanDisk (SNDK) shares closed at $1,766.19 after a powerful V-shaped recovery from a recent low of $998.64. The stock reached a new session high of $1,775.07, demonstrating significant bullish momentum.
This upward trend is supported by indicators like the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), which shows a decisive bullish spread. However, the rapid price appreciation has pushed several key momentum oscillators into territory that analysts often associate with an increased risk of a price correction.
Key Indicators Flash Warning Signs
The speed and scale of the rally have triggered several cautionary signals that traders are monitoring closely:
Ad- Relative Strength Index (RSI): The RSI has climbed to 73.05. A reading above 70 is traditionally considered overbought, suggesting that buying pressure may be exhausted and the asset could be due for a reversal or consolidation.
- Money Flow Index (MFI): At 92.72, the MFI is at an extremely high level, indicating that the recent price gains may be unsustainable.
- Bollinger Bands: The stock's price is trading outside its upper Bollinger Band, a statistical indication that the move is overextended relative to its recent volatility.
- Trading Volume: The analysis also noted that trading volume has been fading with each new high, a potential sign of weakening conviction among buyers.
Critical Levels for Investors to Watch
For investors monitoring the stock's technical setup, several price levels are now in focus. Resistance is anticipated around the $1,836 mark, a level that has historically been prone to price rejections.
On the downside, technical analysis points to a critical support zone between $1,676 and $1,652. A close below the 200-bar moving average, currently at $1,595, would be seen as invalidating the current bullish thesis and could trigger a more significant selloff, according to the analysis.
