Rollins Stock Plunges After Q2 Earnings Miss, Analyst Downgrade

Rollins, Inc. (ROL) shares plunged 15.6% in pre-market trading Tuesday after the pest control giant reported second-quarter financial results that fell short of Wall Street estimates across key metrics, prompting a significant analyst downgrade.
Disappointing Quarterly Results
The company announced adjusted earnings per share of $0.32, missing the consensus estimate of $0.34, according to its Q2 2026 report. Revenue for the quarter was $1.08 billion, slightly below the forecasted $1.09 billion.
Profitability was a key area of concern for investors. The company's operating margin contracted by 110 basis points year-over-year to 18.7%. Adjusted EBITDA of $236.3 million missed analyst expectations by approximately 7.5%, signaling pressure on the company's earnings power.
Analyst Downgrade and Leadership Concerns
Adding to the negative sentiment, RBC Capital downgraded Rollins stock from "Outperform" to "Sector Perform" and slashed its price target to $40 from $52. The firm cited several reasons for the downgrade, including:
Ad- Organic growth underperforming guidance for three consecutive quarters.
- Incremental margins missing targets in seven of the last eight quarters.
- An unexpected mid-quarter CFO transition, which it labeled a "governance overhang."
The departure of CFO Kenneth Krause and the appointment of William Harkins had previously been flagged as a concern by analysts at Bernstein, according to reports.
Management Commentary and Outlook
Rollins management attributed the weaker results to softer demand in residential pest control, particularly from leads generated through digital and search channels. The company noted, however, that lead volumes began to recover toward the end of June and into early July.
Investors are now awaiting the company's earnings conference call, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET, for further commentary on demand trends, plans for margin recovery, and the business outlook for the remainder of 2026. The sell-off pushed the stock price well below its 52-week low of $41.50.
