Rocket Lab Shares Gain After Securing Record $266 Million U.S. Space Force Contract

Summary
The aerospace company announced its largest-ever launch services agreement, a multi-launch deal with the U.S. Space Force, sending its stock up 5% in Monday's trading.
Shares of Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB) climbed 5% on Monday after the company announced it had secured its largest launch contract to date, a $266 million agreement with the U.S. Space Force. The deal significantly expands the company's role in supporting U.S. national security missions.
Contract Details
The contract was awarded by the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command’s Rocket Systems Launch Program. Under the terms of the agreement, Rocket Lab will conduct 12 suborbital launches with an option for up to six additional missions.
The first launch under this new contract is scheduled to take place no earlier than the end of 2026. The missions will primarily launch from a new Rocket Lab site at the Pacific Spaceport Complex-Alaska in Kodiak.
AdStrategic Expansion
The new Alaskan launch site complements Rocket Lab's existing facilities, which include Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand and Launch Complexes 2 and 3 in Virginia. This geographic expansion enhances the company's launch capacity and flexibility for government and commercial clients.
In a statement, Rocket Lab founder and CEO Sir Peter Beck said the contract reflects the Space Force's confidence in the company's ability to meet national security demands. "The size and scale of this contract reflects the Space Force’s confidence in our ability to meet their urgent national security demands with speed, responsiveness, and scale," Beck stated.
