Robinhood Stock Gains After Unveiling AI Trading Agents, Crypto Derivatives

Summary
Robinhood shares rose after the company announced a suite of new products aimed at active traders, including AI-powered agents, crypto perpetual futures, and expanded trading hours, drawing a positive reaction from Wall Street.
Robinhood Markets (HOOD) shares climbed 2.5% on Wednesday after the online brokerage unveiled an ambitious expansion of its platform, including AI-powered trading agents, crypto perpetual futures, and plans for weekend stock trading. The new features, announced at the company's third annual HOOD Summit, are designed to attract more sophisticated and active traders, moving the platform beyond its beginner-focused roots.
A Push Into AI and Automation
Central to the announcement is Robinhood Agents, an artificial intelligence tool that allows customers to analyze market trends, construct strategies, and execute trades autonomously. Robinhood stated that over 150,000 customers have opened agentic trading accounts since a preview began in May, with the system now making nearly 30 million daily tool queries.
To complement the AI agents, the company introduced Agent Apps, an in-app marketplace offering premium research and analytics from 11 third-party providers, including Nasdaq, Unusual Whales, and SpotGamma. These tools will carry monthly subscription fees between $5 and $30 following an initial trial period.
New Tools for Advanced Traders
Robinhood also targeted experienced investors with a range of new derivative products and expanded market access. The new offerings are intended to increase user engagement and provide more ways for customers to trade.
Ad- Crypto Perpetual Futures: Pending a final rollout, eligible U.S. users will gain access to crypto perpetuals—a popular derivative in overseas markets—with up to 10x leverage on assets like Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, and Ripple.
- Around-the-Clock Trading: The company plans to expand its 24-Hour Market to include weekend trading for select equities, subject to regulatory approval. Extended options trading hours are scheduled to launch in October.
- Enhanced Margin and Orders: The brokerage is also rolling out 4x intraday margin for qualified accounts, one-cancels-the-other (OCO) equity orders, and Cboe-backed binary options contracts tied to corporate earnings metrics.
Wall Street's Positive Reception
The product roadmap was well-received by analysts, who see the new features as key drivers for long-term growth. In a research note, Morgan Stanley analyst Michael Cyprys reiterated an Overweight rating and a $150 price target on Robinhood stock, writing that the announcements "reinforce our recent upgrade thesis."
Cyprys added that the expanding platform should help Robinhood drive "more assets/customer, more activity/customer and greater monetization of that activity." Analysts broadly expect the new tools to reduce friction for complex trading strategies and help the company continue taking market share from traditional retail brokerages.
