Robinhood Stock Climbs on Bullish Analyst Upgrades Citing New Venture Success

Robinhood Markets (HOOD) shares climbed 1.6% in pre-open trading Tuesday after receiving bullish analyst notes from both Goldman Sachs and Jefferies, who pointed to the strong early performance of the company's new business ventures.
Analyst Upgrades Drive Optimism
Two investment banks upgraded their outlook on Robinhood, citing positive operational momentum. The upgrades provided a significant catalyst for the stock in a mixed broader market.
- Goldman Sachs maintained its Buy rating and raised its price target on HOOD to $142 from $124. Analyst James Yaro highlighted the impressive launch of Rothera, Robinhood's prediction markets joint venture, which is already generating approximately $150 million in annualized revenue.
- Jefferies also reiterated a Buy rating, increasing its price target to $140 from $127. The firm's confidence followed a meeting with CFO Shiv Verma, with analysts encouraged by robust net deposit trends and accelerating growth in Gold subscribers.
New Ventures Show Early Promise
The analyst optimism is rooted in the tangible results from Robinhood's expansion beyond core stock trading. Rothera has quickly established itself as a top-five global prediction market by volume, according to Goldman Sachs. Wall Street is also watching for the NFL and NCAA football seasons to potentially accelerate activity on the platform.
AdSeparately, Jefferies noted a surge in activity on Robinhood Chain, the company’s Ethereum layer-2 blockchain. The network reportedly reached $8.2 million in daily fees on September 4, signaling growing adoption and a new revenue stream for the financial technology firm.
Market Reaction and Institutional Interest
The stock's move higher to $124.11 in pre-market trading stood in contrast to the broader market, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average trading lower, underscoring that the gains were driven by company-specific news.
Adding to the positive sentiment, ARK Invest, led by Cathie Wood, purchased approximately $3.6 million worth of HOOD shares on September 5. Investor focus is also turning to CEO Vlad Tenev, who is scheduled to present at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on September 9.
