Raytheon Secures $34.4 Million DoD Contract for V-22 Osprey Software Support

Summary
The defense contractor will provide engineering and technical support for the V-22 tiltrotor aircraft's tactical software suite under a non-competitive, cost-plus-fixed-fee order.
Raytheon has been awarded a $34,364,909 contract from the U.S. Department of Defense to provide ongoing support for the V-22 Osprey's Tactical Software Suite. The award ensures the continued operational readiness of the critical tiltrotor aircraft fleet used by multiple branches of the U.S. military.
Contract Details
The Department of Defense announced the cost-plus-fixed-fee order on Monday. Under the agreement, Raytheon will deliver a range of engineering, management, technical, and acquisition support services for the V-22 fleet, which is operated by the Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy.
All work will be performed at Raytheon's facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, with an expected completion date of August 2028. This contract action was issued against a basic ordering agreement established in 2025, indicating an ongoing service relationship.
Funding and Procurement
The contract was awarded non-competitively by the Naval Air Systems Command, located in Patuxent River, Maryland. The Pentagon noted that the award will be funded through multiple fiscal year appropriations.
AdFunding at the time of the award includes:
- $33.8 million from various fiscal year 2026 accounts, including aircraft procurement, research and development, and operations and maintenance for the Navy and Air Force.
- $0.6 million from fiscal year 2025 Air Force and Defense-Wide procurement funds.
Implications for Raytheon
While modest in size relative to Raytheon's overall revenue, this contract represents a stable, recurring income stream from a key military platform. Non-competitive awards like this underscore the company's entrenched position as a critical technology and service provider for long-term defense programs, a factor often valued by investors seeking stability in the sector.
