Qualcomm, Meta Platforms Exhibit Strongest Technical Setups Among Big Tech, Analysis Shows

According to a recent technical analysis of large-cap technology stocks, Qualcomm (QCOM) and Meta Platforms (META) currently display the most favorable chart patterns. The analysis, published by Investing.com, found that Qualcomm exhibits the clearest short-term momentum, while Meta benefits from a more durable and confirmed weekly trend.
However, the report cautions that both stocks are trading near overbought territory, suggesting that while the opportunities are present, they are accompanied by a significant risk of a near-term price pullback.
Qualcomm's Momentum Setup
Qualcomm's technical strength is primarily concentrated in its short-term indicators, making it a notable momentum play. The analysis points to a "Strong Buy" signal on its daily chart, supported by a bullish Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) reading and an Average Directional Index (ADX) of 36.96, which signals a meaningful trend is in place.
Key technical levels identified for Qualcomm include immediate resistance near $185.25 and a pivot point around $176.76. A move below this pivot would weaken the bullish setup. The primary caveat is that its weekly chart is still rated "Neutral," indicating the longer-term breakout is not yet fully confirmed.
Meta's Confirmed Trend
AdIn contrast, Meta Platforms shows greater strength across longer timeframes. The company's stock has earned a "Strong Buy" signal on both its daily and weekly charts, suggesting a more established and durable uptrend. Its daily ADX of 40.47 indicates an even stronger trend than Qualcomm's.
The analysis notes that while Meta's daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) is high, its weekly RSI has more room to run before becoming overbought. The report identified key resistance for Meta near $657.88. The primary risk for Meta is described as "crowded enthusiasm," which can make a stock vulnerable to sharp reversals if sentiment shifts.
Implications for Traders
The distinction between the two setups offers different potential opportunities. Qualcomm's chart pattern appears better suited for traders focused on sharp, immediate momentum. Meanwhile, Meta's stronger weekly confirmation suggests a more stable trend that may appeal to those with a slightly longer time horizon. In both cases, the analysis underscores that the stocks are trading near key resistance levels, increasing the potential for a pause or reversal.
