Sector and Stock Movers
The energy sector was a significant driver of the day's losses. Key decliners among the index's components included:
- TGS NOPEC Geophysical (OL:TGS), which fell 4.20%.
- Var Energi ASA (OL:VAR), down 4.09%.
- Aker BP ASA (OL:AKRBP), which lost 3.27%.
These declines coincided with a drop in global oil prices. November Brent crude futures fell 0.49% to $106.08 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for November delivery was down 0.82% at $93.83 a barrel.
AdSeafood Stocks Buck the Trend
In contrast to the broader market, seafood producers posted strong gains. SalMar ASA (OL:SALM) was the top performer on the OBX, surging 3.75%. Mowi ASA (OL:MOWI) also advanced, adding 2.49% by the close. Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA (OL:NAS) was another notable gainer, rising 2.03%.
Currency and Commodities
In the currency markets, the Norwegian krone showed mixed results. The EUR/NOK pair edged up 0.11% to 10.83, while the USD/NOK pair fell slightly by 0.09% to 9.50. The US Dollar Index Futures, which measures the greenback against a basket of major currencies, was down 0.32%.
Meanwhile, in precious metals, the December Gold Futures contract saw an increase, rising 0.36% to trade at $4,313.47 a troy ounce.
