Oslo OBX Index Climbs to New All-Time High, Up 0.58% at Close

Norway's benchmark Oslo OBX index closed at a new all-time high on Thursday, gaining 0.58% for the session. The advance was driven by sector-specific strength, even as declining oil prices weighed on major energy companies.
Healthcare and Utilities Lead Gains
The market's upward momentum was primarily fueled by positive performance in several key sectors. According to closing data, the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Pharma Biotech & Life Sciences, and Utilities sectors were the main drivers behind the index's record-setting day.
Market breadth on the Oslo Stock Exchange was positive, with rising stocks outnumbering declining ones by a margin of 162 to 89, while 29 stocks finished the session unchanged.
Standout Stock Performance
Several companies posted significant gains, contributing to the index's rise. The top performers on the OBX included:
Ad- Cmb.Tech NV (CMBT): rose 4.96% to close at 194.80, a new 5-year high.
- Nordic Semiconductor ASA (NOD): added 4.09% to end the day at 178.00.
- Subsea 7 SA (SUBC): gained 2.61%, closing at 330.60.
Conversely, the energy sector faced headwinds. The session's worst performers included TGS NOPEC Geophysical Company ASA, which fell 2.50%, and Aker BP ASA, which declined 1.71%.
Commodity Market Impact
The weakness in energy stocks coincided with a drop in global oil prices. Brent crude, the international benchmark, fell 2.14% to $103.57 a barrel for November delivery. Similarly, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for October delivery was down 1.33% at $101.07 a barrel, pressuring the valuations of oil-exposed firms like Aker BP and Var Energi ASA, which was down 1.29%.
