Summary
The AI developer is reportedly preparing to unveil GPT-6 Cyber and a related security automation product in the coming weeks, signaling a deeper push into the enterprise cybersecurity market.
OpenAI is preparing to preview a new artificial intelligence model focused on cybersecurity, GPT-6 Cyber, in the coming weeks, according to a Fortune report published Thursday. The report, which cited people familiar with the company's plans, indicates the move is part of a broader push into specialized enterprise AI solutions.
New Security Offerings
Alongside the new model, OpenAI is also expected to release a product designed to help customers deploy it securely. This yet-to-be-named tool will reportedly allow clients to automate cybersecurity workflows, such as identifying and patching software vulnerabilities.
The development comes as businesses face increasingly sophisticated AI-powered cyberattacks. By offering automated security tools, OpenAI aims to counter these threats while also gaining greater oversight into how its powerful AI models are used in sensitive environments.
Launch Timeline and Context
AdA limited group of customers in OpenAI’s exclusive Daybreak Red cybersecurity program are already testing GPT-6 Cyber, the report states. A formal unveiling is anticipated at the company's annual DevDay event scheduled for Sept. 29.
This release would mark a rapid expansion of OpenAI's cybersecurity portfolio. It would be the fourth such model released this year, following:
- GPT-5.4 Cyber in April
- GPT-5.5 Cyber in June
- GPT-5.6 Cyber in August
The DevDay event could see the launch of a dozen or more products, spanning both consumer and enterprise applications, according to Fortune.
