OneSpaWorld Stock Surges on Record Q3 Earnings, New Buyback Program

Shares of OneSpaWorld Holdings (OSW) surged more than 11% in morning trading after the cruise ship wellness provider reported record third-quarter financial results and announced a new, significant capital return program for shareholders.
The stock's strong performance came in a largely flat market, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq trading near unchanged, indicating the rally was driven entirely by company-specific news.
Record Results Drive Rally
OneSpaWorld posted record results for the third quarter that surpassed Wall Street expectations. The company reported revenue of $276.5 million, beating the consensus estimate of $272.1 million and marking a 7% increase from the same period a year earlier.
Profitability metrics also set new highs. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $0.34, topping the analyst forecast of $0.31. According to the release, net income climbed 16% to a record $28.2 million, while adjusted EBITDA rose 12% to a record $39.2 million. CEO Leonard Fluxman stated, "We delivered excellent third quarter performance, reporting results that surpassed our guidance."
Capital Returns Amplify Investor Enthusiasm
Beyond the strong operational performance, the company's board approved two shareholder-friendly initiatives that further boosted investor sentiment.
Ad- A new $100 million share repurchase program was authorized.
- The quarterly dividend was increased by 25% to $0.0625 per share.
These announcements followed the completion of a prior $75 million buyback authorization, under which the company repurchased approximately 1.4 million shares for $37.2 million during the third quarter. Such capital return programs are often interpreted by investors as a sign of management's confidence in the company's future cash flow and financial stability.
Outlook and Context
While the Q3 results were strong, the company's guidance for the fourth quarter was more measured. OneSpaWorld projected Q4 revenue in the range of $248 million to $253 million. The midpoint of this guidance is slightly below the current analyst consensus of $252.8 million.
For investors, the combination of a significant earnings beat, record profitability, and a substantial new capital return program appeared to outweigh the slightly cautious near-term outlook, prompting a significant re-rating of the stock.
