Background

Shares of MS INTERNATIONAL plc surged after its US-based subsidiary secured its first-ever multi-year contract from the U.S. Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). The deal, which has an initial-year value of $61.3 million, sent the London-listed stock climbing 8.6% to trade at 1,536.8 pence.

Details of the Navy Agreement

The landmark three-year contract covers the continued supply of MK88 MOD4 stabilised gun mounts and MK48 MOD2 electro-optical sights. According to the announcement, the U.S. Navy has committed to purchasing 22 gun mounts and 23 electro-optical sights within the first year.

Significantly, the contract was awarded on a sole-source basis, meaning MSI-Defence Systems US was selected without a competitive tender. This type of award signals a high degree of confidence from the U.S. Navy in the company's proprietary technology and established position as a key supplier.

Strategic Importance and Market Impact

This agreement represents a meaningful upgrade from the annual contract renewals the company previously operated under, providing enhanced revenue visibility and stability for its Defence and Security Division. MS INTERNATIONAL stated that the award supports management’s expectations for the division's medium- and long-term prospects.

Investors reacted positively to the improved outlook, pushing the stock to a session high of 1,560p, well above its previous closing price of 1,415p. The contract win follows a separate €19 million order for NATO naval gun systems announced in August 2026, further strengthening the company's defense order book.
