Mondelez Lifts Revenue Forecast After Topping Q2 Estimates

Summary
The maker of Oreo cookies and Cadbury chocolate beat Wall Street's second-quarter revenue and profit estimates, citing steady consumer demand and easing cost pressures.
Mondelez International (NASDAQ: MDLZ) reported second-quarter financial results that surpassed analyst expectations, driven by resilient demand for its chocolates and biscuits. The company also raised its full-year organic revenue forecast, signaling confidence in its performance for the remainder of the year.
Second-Quarter Highlights
Mondelez posted strong top- and bottom-line growth, outperforming market consensus. According to LSEG data cited by Reuters, the key figures for the quarter were:
- Net Revenue: $9.36 billion, compared to the average analyst estimate of $9.20 billion.
- Adjusted Profit: 73 cents per share, exceeding the consensus estimate of 68 cents.
AdOutlook and Business Drivers
Following the strong quarter, Mondelez updated its full-year guidance. The company now expects annual organic net revenue to grow 2%, an increase from its previous forecast of flat to 2% growth. However, it maintained its annual adjusted profit forecast of flat to up 5%.
The positive results were supported by lower input costs. A global surplus in cocoa drove down prices, relieving margin pressures and enabling the company to invest more in promotions and value packs to attract shoppers. Mondelez also noted it is expanding its product lines, including zero-sugar and gluten-free Oreo varieties, to cater to changing consumer nutritional preferences.
