Several companies posted notable gains, leading the index higher. The top performers included:

  • Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA): rose 3.34% to close at 40.56.

On the downside, beverage company Arca Continental, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:AC) was one of the session's biggest laggards, falling 2.07% to 197.90. Other decliners included airline operator Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA), which fell 1.68%, and restaurant operator Alsea, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA), which shed 0.96%.

Currency and Commodity Markets

In the foreign exchange market, the Mexican peso showed strength against major currencies. The USD/MXN pair fell 0.38% to 17.47, indicating a stronger peso relative to the U.S. dollar. The peso also gained on the euro, with the EUR/MXN pair declining by 0.52% to 19.94.

Commodity prices were mixed. The August contract for Crude oil fell 0.79% to $71.51 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract dipped 0.38% to $76.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Gold Futures for August delivery were down 0.29% to $4,128.90 a troy ounce.
