Meta Unveils 'Muse Charm' Handheld AI Device, Expands Smart Glasses Lineup

Summary
Meta Platforms announced a new palm-sized device called the Muse Charm, dedicated to its popular AI agent, at its annual Connect conference, alongside new smart glasses models and expanded e-commerce partnerships.
Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) on Wednesday unveiled a new dedicated handheld device for its rapidly growing Muse artificial intelligence agent, signaling a strategic push to build a hardware ecosystem around its popular AI software.
The announcement was made by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during the opening keynote at the Meta Connect 2026 event in Menlo Park, California.
Key Product Announcements
The centerpiece of the reveal was the Muse Charm, a palm-sized device featuring a small screen and 5G connectivity. According to Meta, the device is designed to allow users to interact with their Muse AI agents without needing to use a smartphone. The Muse Charm is slated to be available for purchase by December.
Alongside the handheld device, Zuckerberg also introduced new models of the company's smart glasses, including a version without a camera. He emphasized that Muse will be tightly integrated into Meta's AI smart glasses and will feature enhanced personalization options for its appearance and voice.
Monetization and Partnerships
AdZuckerberg outlined a vision for Muse to become a "personal superintelligence that billions of people are going to use," suggesting it could generate financial returns for its users. The company plans to make the AI agent free for a "huge number of tokens" before charging a "small" transaction fee for certain activities.
Meta's Chief AI Officer, Alexander Wang, detailed new capabilities for Muse, including the ability to directly interact with a user's computer and integrate with partner applications through "connectors." Wang highlighted e-commerce as a major focus, announcing new integrations for "agentic shopping" with major retailers including Walmart and Best Buy.
Market Context and Stock Reaction
The new hardware follows a period of rapid growth for the Muse AI, which recently surpassed OpenAI’s ChatGPT to become the most downloaded app on Apple’s U.S. App Store, according to the source. This popularity has reportedly contributed to a broader rally in AI-related stocks.
Following the announcements, shares of Meta trimmed their after-hours losses. The stock was trading down 0.4% at 8:40 PM ET, after having fallen by as much as 1.5% earlier in the session.
