Marvell Shares Surge After CEO Raises Long-Term Revenue Forecast on AI Demand

Shares of Marvell Technology (NASDAQ: MRVL) surged in early trading, climbing 5.7% after the company's CEO provided a substantially upgraded long-term revenue outlook.
In a CNBC appearance, Chairman and CEO Matt Murphy detailed a new, more aggressive financial roadmap, attributing the revision to accelerating momentum in Marvell's artificial intelligence data center portfolio and deep partnerships with hyperscale cloud clients.
Upgraded Revenue Targets
Murphy announced a significant increase to the company's revenue guidance, signaling stronger-than-expected growth driven by AI infrastructure. The company now projects a combined revenue of approximately $30 billion for fiscal years 2027 and 2028.
- Fiscal 2027 Target: Raised to approximately $12 billion from a previous forecast of about $10 billion.
- Fiscal 2028 Target: Raised to approximately $18 billion from a prior estimate of about $13.5 billion.
During the interview, Murphy positioned Marvell as a neutral and collaborative partner capable of serving the entire AI ecosystem.
Market and Analyst Context
AdThe stock's advance was a company-specific move, standing in contrast to a cautious broader market, with the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average, and Nasdaq Composite all trading lower. Key semiconductor competitors, including Broadcom and AMD, had no major news, isolating the rally to Marvell.
The positive investor reaction builds on existing bullish sentiment. Wall Street holds a consensus "Buy" rating on the stock, with an average analyst price target of $296.35. Oppenheimer recently raised its target to $325. The market's enthusiasm is also supported by Marvell's strong second-quarter fiscal 2027 results, which included a 37% year-over-year revenue increase to $2.74 billion.
Technical Picture
From a technical standpoint, Marvell's stock entered the session with a positive setup. It was trading above its 20-day, 50-day, and 100-day simple moving averages. A "golden cross" pattern, formed when the 50-day moving average crossed above the 200-day average in October 2025, remains in effect, a signal often interpreted favorably by technical analysts.
The CEO's comments, combined with a recent pullback from its 52-week high of $329.88, appeared to provide an opportunity for investors to increase their positions in a key AI infrastructure provider.
