Lucid Stock Jumps Over 12% as CEO Signals End of Restructuring Phase

Shares of Lucid Group Inc. (LCID) experienced their largest single-day rally since July on Thursday, jumping more than 12% intraday after the company’s chief executive signaled a key phase of its restructuring is complete.
Turnaround Plan Matures
In an interview on Thursday, CEO Silvio Napoli confirmed that the electric vehicle manufacturer has concluded its work with the consulting firm AlixPartners LLP. Lucid had brought on the advisors to assist with an operational review aimed at achieving a $1.4 billion cash savings target this year.
Napoli has been leading the effort to optimize business operations, reduce costs, and ensure a smooth rollout for the company's upcoming mid-size vehicle. "It's an exciting moment, and the bitter medicine had to be taken early," Napoli said in the interview, indicating that difficult but necessary decisions have been made.
Market Reaction and Context
The stock's surge on Thursday was its most significant since late July. Despite the rally, Lucid shares remain down 59% year-to-date, reflecting a challenging period for the company amid production difficulties and weaker consumer demand in the U.S.
AdSince taking the helm earlier this year, Napoli has implemented significant cost-cutting measures, including leadership changes and layoffs, to stabilize the company's finances. The company is also positioning itself to potentially benefit from rising oil prices, which could shift consumer focus toward fuel economy and electric vehicles.
Strategic Push into Ride-Hailing
Lucid is also expanding its strategy beyond consumer sales by targeting the global autonomous taxi market. On Wednesday, the company announced an agreement with European ride-hailing firm Bolt to deploy at least 25,000 autonomous vehicles in European cities, based on Lucid's forthcoming mid-size platform.
This marks Lucid's second major partnership in the sector. In April, the automaker revealed a collaboration with Uber and Nuro to deploy autonomous Lucid Gravity SUVs and mid-size models on the Uber platform, underscoring a clear strategic focus on future mobility services.
