Liquid Mercury's MERC Token Qualifies for EU Trading Under MiCA Rules

Liquid Mercury announced Wednesday it has met a key European Union regulatory requirement for its MERC token, clearing the path for its admission to trading on regulated venues across the bloc. The company's crypto-asset white paper was submitted to the Central Bank of Ireland and has been officially added to the European Securities and Markets Authority's (ESMA) MiCA register.
MiCA Compliance Unlocks EU Market
The successful registration fulfills the stringent disclosure requirements under the EU's landmark Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. This framework mandates that issuers of most crypto-assets publish a detailed white paper before their asset can be offered to the public or admitted to trading within the EU and the European Economic Area (EEA).
With its white paper now on the ESMA register, MERC meets the necessary criteria to be listed on regulated European crypto exchanges. This provides a significant step for the token's accessibility and liquidity within one of the world's largest crypto markets.
AdStrategic Implications
According to Tony Saliba, CEO and founder of Liquid Mercury, the move formalizes the company's commitment to transparency. "With the white paper in the ESMA register, MERC has the regulatory grounding we need to keep pursuing listings, deeper liquidity, and broader access across the EU and beyond," Saliba said in a statement on July 1, 2026.
MERC functions as a platform token for Liquid Mercury, which provides institutional-grade trading infrastructure. The company noted the token's role is set to expand as it grows its business in tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), including sports investments and other alternatives.
